Interactive Data Corporation is a global provider of financial information. It evaluates prices for corporate debt issues, US municipal bonds and high-yield bonds, among other securities. On December 14, 2015, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Intercontinental Exchange, who acquired it from Silver Lake and Warburg Pincus for $5.2 billion.[1] The acquisition ending Interactive's bid to go public.[2]

History

Founded in 1968, Interactive Data began as a supplier of financial market data and related offerings. Acquisitions contributed to the firm's growth, enabling the company to deliver an increasing range of services, while expanding into adjacent markets and extending its reach geographically.

In December of 2009, Interactive Data announced the acquisition of 7ticks.[3]

Interactive Data Corporation purchased 7ticks and completed the deal on Jan. 19, 2010 and combined the firm with its low latency market data business. Its consolidated global data feed is available via the Interactive Data 7ticks network.[4][5]

Silver Lake and Warburg Pincus bought IDC in a 2010 leveraged buyout deal valued at approximately $3.2 billion.[6] The company continued to be led by its senior management team.[7]

IDC filed for an initial public offering in October of 2015, although The Wall Street Journal had reported that several companies, including Nasdaq Inc. and Markit Ltd., had expressed interest in a buyout.[8]
