Rostin "Russ" Behnam is a commissioner at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He was confirmed in that role unanimously by the Senate in August of 2017  and officially sworn in on September 6, 2017 for a term expiring in June 2021.
Behnam was previously a senior counsel to Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) at the Senate Agricultural Committee.  He served as counsel to Senator Stabenow starting in 2011, focusing on policy and legislation related to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Department of Agriculture.
Behnam previously practiced law in New York City and worked at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and earned his law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law.
