Andrei Marcu
Andrei Marcu is a member of the emissions trading team at Mercuria Energy Group.[1] Marcu helps Mercuria to find new clients and monitor regulatory developments.[2] Background[edit]He joined Mercuria Energy Group in September 2009, with a focus on finding new customers and monitoring regulatory developments at the firm.[3][4] Prior to joining Mercuria, he served as senior climate change and emissions trading advisor at Bennett Jones LLP, a Toronto-based climate change and emissions trading law firm.[5] Marcu served as BlueNext CEO from April 2008 until October 2008, when he left to join Bennett Jones.[6] Prior to joining BlueNext, Marcu served as president and CEO of the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), a non-profit business organization created in 1999 to establish a functional framework for trading emission reductions in greenhouse gases.[7] Before joining IETA, he served from 1998 to 2000 as manager of corporate initiatives at the United Nations Development Program, the UN's global development network. He also worked in a variety of positions from 1981 to 1998 at Ontario Hydro, the owner and operator of transmission lines formerly provided by the provincially owned utility across Ontario.[8] Among other positions, Marcu also served as senior advisor to the secretary general of the Habitat II Conference from 1995 to 1996.[9] Education[edit]Marcu earned a master's degree in business] administration at the University of Toronto 1988 and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University in 1980.
