Ann Shuman is general counsel at the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC). She was promoted to that position on February 1, 2017, taking over from Larry Thompson, who stepped down to serve full-time as vice chairman of DTCC.[1]
Shuman was previously DTCC's managing director and deputy general counsel.[2]
As general counsel, she is responsible for advising senior management and the DTCC Board of Directors on legal and regulatory matters. She will also join the firm’s management committee and continue to oversee its global legal team.
Shuman is also a member of the board of OneChicago.
Background[edit]
Shuman was previously managing director and deputy general counsel at the CME Group, a position she held since 2007. Before joining CME in 2000, Shuman served as an attorney in the derivatives and investment products group of Sidley & Austin in Chicago.

Shuman earned a bachelor's degree in English from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and a JD degree from the University of Chicago.
