Antonio J. Zoido Martínez is chairman and CEO of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME).[1] He has held the position since February 2002, after spearheading a merger of the Madrid Stock exchange with regional exchanges in Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia, plus the Mercado Español de Futuros Financieros (MEFF).[2]

In addition, Zoido Martinez serves as chairman of Sociedad Rectora de la Bolsa de Valores de Madrid, S.A. (the governing body of Spain's financial markets). He also sits on the boards of Clearstream and OMEL, Spain's electricity market..[3]


Zoido Martinez has been involved in banking and securities through most of his career, including Santander, where he served as director of both investment finance and consumer finance. In 2001 and 2002, he served as chairman of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

He has been also been chairman of the Federation of European of Stock Exchanges (FESE), the European Capital Market Institute (ECMI) and Santander Central Hispano Bolsa.


Zoido Martínez graduated in Law from Madrid's Universidad Complutense and furthered his studies in other European and American institutions.
