Bryan Durkin is a retired derivatives exchange executive who currently serves as an adviser to the CME Group and as a member of its board of directors.

He retired from the CME Group as president. He was appointed to the position in November 2016. Previously, he served as chief commercial officer of CME Group starting in 2014 and as chief operating officer from 2007-2014. In these roles, he has had responsibility for the company's global operations, technology, product and business development, international growth and sales functions. [1]

The exchange announced in February 2020 that Durkin would step down as president in May and will start serving as a special adviser to the company at that time.[2]

As part of his responsibilities, he led the global integrations following CME's merger with the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in 2007 and CME Group's acquisition of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) in 2008. Before joining CME Group, Durkin served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the CBOT. Prior to that role, he was in charge of the CBOT's Office of Investigations and Audits where he oversaw the audits, financial surveillance, trade practice and market surveillance self-regulatory and enforcement divisions for the exchange. His career with both CME Group and CBOT spans more than 30 years.

He is also a member of the COMEX Governors Committee, which was formed after CME Group completed its acquisition of NYMEX Holdings, including the COMEX Division.[3]

He also serves on the CME Group Competitive Markets Advisory Council.[4]

Before the merger of CME and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in July 2007, Durkin held a variety of leadership roles with the CBOT from 1982 to 2007, finally as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Durkin was tasked in August 2008 with overseeing the company's global integration efforts following its merger with NYMEX Holdings and to work closely with NYMEX senior executives.[5]

Durkin formerly served as chairman of the Joint Compliance Committee for all U.S. futures exchanges and represented CBOT on a variety of industry panels concerning trading practices and trading operations.

In 2021, the Futures Industry Association named Durkin to the FIA Futures Hall of Fame.[6]

He has been an adjunct faculty member of Lewis University's MBA program, teaching courses in organizational behavior and management and is a member of the NFA Hearing Committee.

Durkin also serves as a director of the CME Foundation.[7]
