Charles A. Vice is vice chairman of Intercontinental Exchange, with responsibility for ICE’s global technology, information security and operations. He was previously president and chief operating officer, and has been with ICE and its predecessor company for more than 23 years. He was appointed vice chairman in November of 2017.[1]

He became president in October 2005[2] and chief operating officer in July 2001.[3] Vice oversees operations at ICE, including market and business development and customer support activities.[4]

Background[edit]

Before becoming COO of ICE, Vice spent 25 years supplying and adapting information technology to the energy industry. He joined Continental Power Exchange, Inc. (CPEX) during its start in 1994. Before joining CPEX, he was a principal with Energy Management Associates for five years, providing consulting services to energy firms. From 1985 to 1988, he served as a systems analyst with Electronic Data Systems.[5]

Education[edit]

Vice holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.[6][7]

He serves on the Board of Visitors at the Owen School and the Leadership Board of the U of A College of Engineering where he is a Distinguished Engineering Fellow.
