Chip Dempsey is a business development strategist with more than 28 years of industry experience and an extensive global network of business leaders in the market structure and financial technology communities. He was most recently senior vice president and chief commercial officer at OCC, which he joined in that newly created role in September 2016.[1] He joined OCC from Morgan Stanley, where he was executive director of principal strategic investments. His previous clearinghouse experience includes the re-engineering of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation after the departure of the Chicago Board of Trade.[2] [3]


Dempsey has been an options market maker, interbank FX trader, and software and market data salesperson. He previously managed global sales, strategy and new business development as senior vice president at SunGard Futures Systems, CQG and The Clearing Corporation.[4]

He helped to design a pan-African network of clearinghouses and been an adviser on international expansion. He has contributed as an editor to publications of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Swiss Futures and Options Association. He has been a panelist and speaker at many international derivatives exchange and clearing and settlement conferences.

Dempsey is mentioned in the acknowledgement section of Michael Covel book Trend Following: Learn to Make Millions In Up Or Down Markets.[5]

In April of 2011, he won a platform name contest from the Eris Exchange. Dempsey won an Apple iPad 2 for his entry of "Eris Swapbook" for the name of the exchange's central limit order book and RFQ trading platform.[6]
