According to CoinMarketCap, an online data aggregator and reporting service, DigiByte (DGB) was the 46th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization at the end of May 2019. On May 24, 2019 the circulating supply of 11,830,580,049 were worth a little more than $178 million.[1]

DGB was established by a team of developers in 2014 for the purpose of facilitating cryptocurrency based retail transactions. DGB's security is based on multi-algorithm mining unlike the single algorithms used in bitcoin and Ethereum mining.[2]

In 2018 authorities in China discovered that a million computers there had been cryptojacked to mine $2 million worth of DGB among other coins.[3]
