Nord Pool Clearing (NPC) on March 2, 2007 signed an agreement with FishEx ASA offering clearing services to the international fish derivatives market. The Norwegian Ministry of Finance granted NPC a commodity clearing license. NPC became the first clearinghouse in Europe to enter the international fish derivatives market.

The granted commodity derivatives license supports NPC in order to expand in further commodity markets in the future. The agreement means that NPC assumes the counterparty risk and guarantees correct settlement for the members.[1]
