Guy Simpkin is head of business development at Bats Europe, part of CBOE Holdings. He was appointed to that position in April 2012.[1][2]

Background[edit]

Simpkin has 30 years of experience in the financial industry. He started his career as an index fund manager with Barclays Investment Management (now Blackrock) where he was one of the original team that introduced quantitative fund management to Europe. He joined LIFFE (now ICE) as head of business and market development in 1994 before leaving to run equity and equity derivatives clearing at LCH.Clearnet. He held a similar role at Chi-x Europe when it was acquired by Bats.[3]

Simpkin graduated with honors from Imperial College of Science and Technology with a degree in Mathematics. He lives in Surrey.
