Henry Fernandez is chairman and CEO of MSCI, publisher of over 100,000 equity, REIT and hedge fund indices, as well as portfolio risk and performance analytics.[1]

Background[edit]

Fernandez joined Morgan Stanley in 1983, eventually working his way up to become CEO of its MSCI division in 1998. In 2009, Morgan Stanley spun off MSCI into a stand-alone company, with Fernandez as its chairman and CEO.[2]

He also spent two years as president of HispaniMedia, a private equity investment firm, and before that founded Ferco Partners Inc., a Mexico City-based a private equity firm. From 1976 to 1979, Mr. Fernandez was a diplomat in the Nicaraguan Embassy in Washington, D.C.[3]

Education[edit]

Fernandez holds a bachelor of arts in economics from Georgetown University. He also earned advanced degrees from Princeton and Stanford universities.[4]
