Georganas spent the bulk of his career at the Economic Development Financing Organisation, a state-controlled credit agency which evolved into the Hellenic Industrial Development Bank. He joined in 1958 and left in 1991 with the rank of First Deputy-Governor. Other roles include a term as vice-chairman and member of the Greek Capital Market Commission (1989-1991). Georganas studied at the Graduate School of Economic and Commercial Sciences in Athens (Business Administration, 1955) and at Harvard Business School (Advanced Management Program, Spring 1979).
