Joe Moglia
Joe Moglia is an American businessman and football coach who is also the chairman and former CEO of TD Ameritrade. He was appointed to the role of chairman on Oct. 1, 2008. Under Moglia's leadership, TD Ameritrade's market capitalization grew from $700 million in 2001 to more than $12 billion. He was aggressive in leading the company's acquisition strategy, doing nine deals in his seven-year tenure, the two largest being Datek Online Holdings in 2002 and TD Waterhouse Group, Inc. in 2006.[1] He is the current head football coach of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.[2] Background[edit]Moglia was defensive coordinator at Dartmouth College for three years. When he found himself struggling financially he began a second career on Wall Street in 1983 by entering the MBA Training Program at Merrill Lynch as the only non-MBA trainee.[3] By 1988, he had become Merrill Lynch's top producer in the world. He spent 17 years at Merrill Lynch before becoming the CEO of TD Ameritrade in 2001.[4] He stepped down as CEO in 2008 to return to coaching, but remained chairman of TD Ameritrade.[5] Education[edit]References[edit]
