Bauer manages OCC's interactions with congressional and regulatory policymakers and leads the advocacy efforts of the US Securities Markets Coalition on behalf of the listed options industry.
She also oversees OCC's internal and external communications, as well as OCC's investor education programs including the Options Industry Council (OIC), an industry resource managed by OCC that provides education about the benefits and risks of exchange-listed options to market participants.
She is responsible for engaging with members of Congress regarding issues of importance to the derivatives industry. She joined OCC in 2016 as senior vice president of government relations.
Bauer began her career in government relations with the Chicago Board of Trade in 1990, where she worked for 17 years. She then worked for FINRA in government relations before forming her own lobbying frim, D.C. Policy Group, in 2013.
Bauer has a masters in American government from Georgetown University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia.
Bauer received the Security Traders Association’s Women in Finance Mentor of the Year Award in 2021. She is an advisory board member of Shoes That Fit, a nonprofit dedicated to providing new shoes to children in need.
