Kathleen Moriarty
Kathleen Moriarty is a partner at the law firm Kaye Scholer LLP. She was one of the original attorneys who worked on the SPY, and has been nicknamed “Spider Woman” for her pioneering contributions to the listing of the first ETF.[1] At the March 2014 ETF.com Awards, Moriarty was given a lifetime achievement award for her 25 years of work in the ETF space, which included writing the prospectus for the SPDR.[2] Background[edit]Moriarty began her legal career in 1980 as an associate at Hawkins, Delafield & Wood LLP. She was also an associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP before becoming a partner at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP. In 2007, she joined Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP as a partner. In 2015, she left Katten to become a partner in the corporate development at Kaye Scholer LLP.[3] Her recent work, which build on her history of an ETF pioneer, is centered on the creation and regulatory approval of a virtual currency ETF, namely the Winklevoss Bitcoin Trust.[4] Education[edit]She holds A.B degree from Smith College in Art History.
