Larry E. Thompson

Larry E. Thompson Occupation Chairman of the Board Employer FTX US Derivatives Larry E. Thompson is the former vice chairman of The Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC). He is also co-chair of DTCC’s Internal Risk Management Committee. He was responsible for all legal and regulatory activities of DTCC and its subsidiaries, The Depository Trust Company (DTC), DTCC Deriv/SERV LLC, and the National Securities Clearing Corporation. He retired in December 2018. On January 19, 2022 he was named chairman of the board of FTX US Derivatives (formerly LedgerX), a CFTC-regulated digital asset futures & options exchange and clearinghouse. Up until February 1, 2017, he was also general counsel at DTCC but stepped down from those duties to serve full-time as vice chairman. Background Thompson began his legal career with DTCC as associate counsel in 1981. He was elected vice president and deputy general counsel in 1991, became a senior vice president in 1993 and was named general counsel in 1999. Previously, he was a partner in the New York law firm of Lake, Bogan, Lenoir, Jones & Thompson. He also practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Education Thompson earned his B.A. degree from Yale University with cum laude honors and as Scholar of the House. He earned his law degree at the University of California at Berkeley. References
