Lynne Marek is a Chicago-based journalist covering the financial industry. She most recently was a senior reporter with Crain's Chicago Business and often writes about media, private-equity, hedge fund, mutual fund and financial exchange companies.[1][2][3]


Marek joined Crain's Chicago Business in 2010, coming from the National Law Journal, where she was the Chicago bureau chief.[4] She left Crain's on December 1, 2020.

She also spent 11 years at Bloomberg News in Washington, DC and Chicago covering airlines, railroads, Midwest Federal Reserve officials and corporate disclosure with the SEC.

Marek began her journalism career at the Washington bureau of the Chicago Tribune as a researcher and reporter.


She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. She also holds a master's in public affairs journalism from American University in Washington.
