Michael Buhl is joint CEO of Wiener Börse,[1] operator of the Vienna Stock Exchange, a position he shares with Heinrich Schaller.

Background[edit]

Buhl was appointed to his current role in January 2005, joining the exchange from Erste Bank, where he had been managing director and head of investment banking since February 1999. Buhl has spent his entire career in financial services, working as head of securities at CA-IB Investment Bank (1996-99) after moving from Creditanstalt Bankverein, which he joined as a trainee in 1987 and rose to become head of equity trading and head of derivatives.

Education[edit]

Buhl graduated with a Masters in commercial science from the University of Economics Vienna in 1987 and has earned a doctor of law from the University of Vienna and attended the advanced management program at the Insead business school.
