Michael E. Cahill is the former president, CEO, and treasurer of OCC.[1] He took over the CEO post January 1, 2014, filling the position vacated by the retiring CEO Wayne Luthringshausen.[2][3] Cahill retired in December 2014 after having worked at the clearinghouse for 32 years.[4]
He is a member of the advisory committee of John J. Lothian & Company, Inc.[5]
Background[edit]
Cahill joined OCC in 1982 as a Risk Analyst. Prior to his election as president and CEO in 2014, he was president and chief operating officer since 2002. Previously he served as chief financial officer [6] and was a key contributor to OCC becoming the first clearing corporation to receive a 'AAA' rating in 1993 from Standard & Poors.

Cahill is a member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Financial Markets Working Group, Economic Club of Chicago, Futures Industry Association - Operations Division, Unified Clearing and Securities Clearing Groups, the BSA LaSalle Street Committee, the Amy Allen Scholarship Foundation, and the Saint Mary's College of Notre Dame Board of Trustees, for which he serves as vice chair.

He received an M.B.A. in Finance from DePaul University, a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, and is also a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business.
