Michael Syn
Michael Syn is senior managing director and head of equities at the Singapore Exchange. He was appointed to the post starting in July 2019. He manages SGX's cash equities and equity derivatives businesses, which were merged into one business unit at that time.[1] Previously, he served as executive vice president and head of derivatives at SGX. He was named to the position in February of 2011 and began March 1.[2][3] Background[edit]Syn joined SGX from DBS Asset Management, where he was COO. He also worked in investment banking and investment management for UBS in London, heading its United Kingdom derivatives risk.[4] In addition to his SGX work, Syn is an advisor to the Wealth Management Institute, an arm of Temasek Holdings, and sits on the advisory council of the Centre for Asset Management Research and Investments at NUS Business School.[5] Education[edit]Syn holds an MA and PhD in Engineering from Cambridge University, UK.
