Michael T. Burke is the CEO of HighGround Trading Group, Inc., a Chicago-based introducing broker.[1] Burke is a longtime futures industry brokerage executive and has worked for MF Global, R.J. O'Brien and Iowa Grain among his employers.

Burke was elected to the NIBA board of directors for a 3-year term beginning December 1, 2012.[2]

Background[edit]

Burke started in the futures industry in 1986 with Singer Wenger Trading Company, a proprietary trading firm. He later worked for Kemper Clearing Corp. in the 1980s before joining Iowa Grain for ten years, leaving them in 2000 as general manager. He was a senior vice president with R.J. O'Brien in the retail division.[3]

In 2007 he joined MF Global as executive vice president and left them in February 2009.

In July of 2009 he founded HighGround Trading Group with Rick Gallwas.

Burke served three terms on the National Introducing Broker Association Board of Directors. He has also served on the NFA/FIA Best Practices Committee.

He is a past member of the CBOT and CME FCM Committee and the BOTCC Clearing Corporation Operations Task Force.

Burke is a graduate of Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
