Owen Rehling grew up in Elmhurst, IL. He attended and graduated from York Community High School.

He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 117 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. His Scoutmaster was John Lothian, publisher of John Lothian News.

As a Scout, Rehling attend the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree in 2013 and the World Scout Jamboree in 2015.[2][3]

Rehling holds a bachelor of arts in English and creative writing with a minor in journalism from the University of Iowa. He graduated with honors.

At York Community High School in Elmhurst, IL, Rehling was a State Scholar in 2016.[4]
