Patrick Mulchrone is a Chicago-based listed derivatives brokerage partner, exchange board member and former floor broker. He is a partner with Advantage Futures and a member of the board of directors of the CME Group, representing B-shareholders.[1]

He was a partner at Buttonwood Group Trading LLC.[2][3]

Background[edit]

Mulchrone was elected to the CME Group board in 2020 and had previously served on the board of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 1991 to 2001.[4]

He has also served on various committees at the CME, including the disciplinary and nominating committees.[5]

Since 2003, he has been a partner in and co-founder of Advantage Futures.

He is president of P.J. Mulchrone Co. and has been since 1980 when he first became a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Mulchrone was hired as a runner on the floor of the CME in 1979 by Heinhold and worked under Kurt Jaderholm. He started in the meats and transferred to the new T-bill pit at the time. He was backed by Heinold to become a CME member, and helped by his father, a retired policeman who became a meat pit trader. He began filling T-bill futures orders for Heinhold and some other firms. He later moved to the Eurodollar pit as trading waned in T-bills and Eurodollars took hold as the preferred futures contract to trade and hedge short term interest rates.

After the CME moved Eurodollar trading to the previously unused CME upper trading floor, Mulchrone had as many as eight clerks working for him, helping him manage his floor brokerage business. He left the trading floor in 2004.

He served as a member of the board of directors of Standard Bank & Trust until its sale in 2017. He serves as the vice chairman of the CME Group political action committee and has served on the Class B-2 nominating committee.

Mulchrone serves on the board of advisors of Misericordia and has been since 1983.

Education[edit]

Mulchrone holds a bachelor of science degree from Western Illinois University in the fields of accounting and finance.
