The late Robert Cox was a vice president in the financial markets group in the economic research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He passed away on December 7, 2018 after a brief illness.[1]

He joined the Chicago Fed in 2014 after a spending many years as a bank executive. He advised senior management of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on matters involving central counterparty (CCP) risk and exchange-traded derivatives. He also represented the Chicago Fed on the OTC Derivatives Regulator's Forum.[2]

Background[edit]

Before joining the Chicago Fed in 2014, Cox spent six years as managing director, head of futures at HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. Before that, he spent sixteen years at Goldman Sachs, where in 1987 he started the investment bank's Asia operations in Tokyo. He also served in Goldman's Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Chicago offices.

He previously served on the board of directors of the Futures Industry Association (FIA).

Education[edit]

Cox held a bachelor of arts in economics from Northwestern University.
