Romnesh Lamba
Occupation Co-Head of Market Development
Employer Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd
Location Hong Kong

Romnesh Lamba is co-head of market development at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd (HKEx). He was named to that position in January of 2013. He will also become the chief executive of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Ltd. and Hong Kong Futures Exchange Ltd. He was previously head of market development at HKEx. [1]

As CEO of the stock and futures exchanges Lamba succeeds Gerald Greiner, who was appointed HKEx’s head of global clearing.

Lamba has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He worked at Merrill Lynch Asia Pacific for eight years as a managing director and served as the chief operating officer of Merrill's China origination business. He worked in the United States for nine years before moving to Hong Kong in 1994.[2]

He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Economics at The Wharton School University of Pennsylvania.

Hong Kong, usually a leader in the IPO space, had a bit of an off year in 2017. Romnesh Lamba, HKEX’s co-head of market development, thinks 2018 will be an evolutionary year for HKEX as it plans to loosen its listing rules.
