In May 2007, Scott DeFife joined the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association as senior managing director, Government Affairs.[1] In this capacity, DeFife is responsible for overseeing the Association's federal and state legislative and lobbying eforts
Background[edit]
DeFife comes to SIFMA with over 18 years of Washington experience. Prior to joining SIFMA, he was senior policy advisor to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD). Previously, he served as legislative director to Congressman Bart Gordon (D-TN) and to Congresswoman Karen McCarthy (D-MO). DeFife also represented the American Public Power Association, the National Conference of State Legislatures and the State of Texas in advocacy and policy positions related to state and municipal finance, economics and commerce, budget, tax and pension issues..[2]
Education[edit]
DeFife received a B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters of Public Administration from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.
