The Helios Group was an independent options trading firm, specializing in market making strategies primarily for electronic exchange-traded derivative products. It was announced in November of 2000 that it would be acquired by The Bear Stearns Companies Inc.[1]
Terms of the purchase, which required regulatory approval, were undisclosed.[2]
Helios employed more than 100 traders, technology professionals and support staff. Helios actively traded futures and options on individual equities, equity indices and fixed income instruments on 11 different exchanges from its offices in Chicago, London and Amsterdam.
