Tom Darell is Oslo, Norway-based CEO of Nord Pool, responsible for leading the company through the executive leadership team, which includes representatives from all functional areas within the organization. He assumed his role as CEO on April 1, 2022, and reports directly to Camille Beudin, the head of strategic development and M&A at Euronext.[1][2]

Darell is also the chairman of Europex, an association of European energy exchanges. He leads a board made up of the CEOs of other exchanges or equivalent senior executives.[3]

Background[edit]

Before joining Nord Pool, Darell held the position of executive vice president for Energy at Volue. His career in the energy sector was preceded by a similar role at Powel, where he also served as executive vice president for Energy. Darell’s extensive experience in executive leadership includes positions at Avaya and Ericsson. At Ericsson, he was the vice president of sales for Southeast Asia and Oceania. He started his professional journey at Gemini Consulting and Cap Gemini in Oslo, where he led the telecom & media practice.

Education[edit]

Darell holds a Master of Business Administration from IESE Business School in Spain where he graduated in the top 15% of his class. He also enhanced his global perspective by participating in an MBA exchange program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.

He is a native Norwegian speaker, fluent in Swedish, Danish, and English and possesses a good understanding of Spanish.[4]
