Tony Thompson is the executive director of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He was appointed in July 2011.[1] Background[edit]Thompson previously worked for the Office of Management at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) as deputy administrator. There, he maintained the USDA's management and administrative functions and supervised internal fiscal policy and human resources.[2] Beginning his career in the United States Air Force, Thompson served for 32 years on active duty. He was named Colonel and worked as director of Air Force Budget Programs and Integration from 2005 to 2007. Thompson's primary duty as director was compiling the Air Force's annual budget.[3] Education[edit]
