Torger Lien is CEO of Statkraft Norfund Power Invest AS, a hydropower development company that operates exclusively in emerging markets. He took that position in March of 2011.[1]

He was previously CEO of Fred Olsen Renewables AS, and started that position on Jan. 1, 2009.

He has chaired studies on the relationship between the European Union allowances and certified emission reductions markets, with special emphasis on the EUA market and its impact on electricity prices.


Lien was previously president and CEO of Nord Pool ASA but resigned from that position on Dec. 31, 2008.[2] He joined Nord Pool in July 2000.

Before joining Nord Pool, he was president and CEO of Pemco AS, an oil and chemicals trading company.

Lien has spent most of his career working with the oil and gas, aluminum and power activities of Norsk Hydro, most recently as vice president of Hydro Energy International. He was also in charge of all Norsk Hydro’s power trading in the Nordic countries.

He was president of EuroPEX, a not-for-profit association of European power exchanges, in 2007 and 2008.


Lien holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim (NTNU). [3]
