Umar Swift is a Kuala Lumpur-based exchange executive who serves as the CEO of Bursa Malaysia.[1]
He succeed Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan as the CEO of the exchange.[2]
Background[edit]
Before joining Bursa Malaysia as CEO, Umar was the group CEO and group managing director of MAA Group Bhd.
He is a chartered accountant and has over 22 years of experience in the areas of banking and financial services. He started his career with Price Waterhouse as a Chartered Accountant in January 1986.
Later, he moved to Bank of Singapore (Australia) Limited. where he worked in corporate finance.[3]
Education[edit]
He holds a bachelor of economics degree from Monash University, Clayton, Australia. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a member of CPA Australia, a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, as well as a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia in Australia. He is also a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a Registered Financial Planner.
