William Barkshire
William Barkshire is a Hong Kong-based financial markets professional. Currently, he serves as managing director of Agora Partners. Previously, he was the co-president at the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (HKMEx). He resigned as a director of the company on June 6, 2013 amid a police investigation into financial irregularities at the failed exchange.[1] He was named to the position in August of 2012.[2] He oversees the exchange’s international business development, product development, operations and technology, and strategy. [3][4][5] The other co-president of the exchange is Jane Wang. Background[edit]Barkshire joined the exchange as a senior advisor in 2009 and was appointed chief operating officer in November of 2011. Barkshire has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. He was formerly director of corporate strategy and a member of the chief executive's committee at the London Stock Exchange, and has held key positions at LCH.Clearnet, European Repo Exchange (ERX), London International Financial Futures Exchange (Liffe), Euro Brokers, and Tradepoint Investment Exchange (now part of SIX Swiss Exchange).
