William Birdthistle is an associate professor of law at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. He joined the faculty there in 2006 and specializes in investment funds, executive compensation and corporate governance.
Prior to joining IIT, Birdthistle was a corporate associate in the investment management practice at Ropes & Gray in Boston. He worked there for five years on issues surrounding mutual funds and hedge funds, with a special focus on governmental investigations into allegations of malfeasance in the mutual fund industry.
After graduating law school, Birdthistle was a clerk for Judge Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Birdthistle teaches business organizations, securities regulation, corporate finance, investment funds, and international business transactions at IIT.
