William Doherty is the executive director of energy/metals settlements for the CME Group.

Doherty spent the majority of his career — 1984 to 2008 — at NYMEX in a variety of roles relating to risk management before joining the CME.
Doherty 's NYMEX responsibilities included the implementation and enforcement of NYMEX's risk safeguard systems, with an emphasis on performance bond setting, value-at-risk analysis on both macro and micro levels, as well as stress testing on these levels. Doherty also monitors options settlements and was a voting member on the COMEX gold, silver, and copper options settlement committees and the NYMEX calendar spread and crack spread options settlement committees.[1]
Previously, Doherty was an accountant at Louis Dreyfus Group, a global provider of investment management products and services. Doherty is a founding member of the industry's derivatives clearing organization risk committee.

He holds a bachelors of science degree in accounting and finance from Monmouth University.[2]
