World Steel Dynamics is a New Jersey-based "Strategic Information Service" that provides insight and analysis on the steel industry. It also offers management consulting at its steel buyer/seller interface.

History[edit]

The company was founded by Peter F. Marcus in 1975. Marcus, a consultant to the steel industry, began his career on Wall Street in 1961 with L.F. Rothschild & Co. [1]

Products and Services[edit]

World Steel Dynamics' steel database and steel statistics are used for performing steel forecasts, studies and analysis for international clients.

In June of 2009, Chicago Climate Futures Exchange (CCFE) and World Steel Dynamics announced the formation of World Steel Exchange (WSE) to list futures contracts initially for steel scrap. The contracts would trade and clear on CCFE’s internetaccessible trading platform and would be based on the SteelBenchmarker family of price indices and other indices.[2] The WSE was expected to launch its first contracts later in 2009.[3]
