Frederick W. Hatfield is a former commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, chief of staff to the House Majority Whip as well as chief of staff to the Senate Deputy Democratic Whip. After leaving the CFTC, he formed Hatfield Advisory Services and he is a senior advisor to Patomak Global Partners LLC, a Washington, DC-based financial services consulting firm specializing in regulatory compliance and risk management.[1]
Hatfield has served as a director on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) board and as chairman of the board of ICE Futures U.S.[2] He also serves on the board of directors of the New York Stock Exchange as the chairman of the Regulatory Oversight Committees. [3]
Background[edit]
Hatfield is a former commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), a position he held from December 2004 to December 2006.[4][5][6][7] Before joining the CFTC, Hatfield served as chief of staff to both former Senator John Breaux (D-LA) from February 1995 to December 2004 and former House Majority Whip Tony Coelho (D-CA), from November 1980 to September 1989.
From 2006-2007, he served as the senior public policy advisor at DC-based law firm Patton Boggs.[8]
In June of 2015, Hatfield was appointed to the board of directors of Pinpoint Global communications, a provider of on-demand training and compliance systems for financial services firms.
Hatfield's private sector work includes serving as deputy commissioner general of the U.S. Pavilion at the World's Fair in Lisbon, Portugal in 1998. He also served on President Obama’s Economic Advisory Committee on Competitiveness in 2008. He also served on the board of directors of the Managed Funds Association[9] and as senior vice president for ETC, an education technology start-up company where his responsibilities included human resources and serving as the liaison to governmental agencies. He has also co-founded a government relations firm, Copeland and Hatfield.
