Jamil M. Nazarali is global head of business development at Citadel Securities. He was appointed to that position in April of 2018, replacing Remco Lenterman.[1] Nazarali was previously senior advisor to Citadel Securities CEO Peng Zhao, a role he assumed in May 2017.[2]

Nazarali joined Citadel Securities in 2011 as head of execution services.[3] He oversaw Citadel Securities’ client market making offerings in equities, options and FX.

He is also a member of the Nasdaq Quality of Markets Committee.[4]

He is chairman of the board of directors of Members Exchange (MEMX). He also sits on the board of Symphony, a messaging and collaboration platform, and on the board of advisors of The Small Exchange. He serves as an advisor to DARPA’s Financial Markets Vulnerabilities Project and is a regular guest lecturer at Princeton’s Bendheim Center for Finance and Columbia University’s Program in the Law and Economics of Capital Markets.[5]

Background[edit]

Before joining Citadel Securities in 2011, he was global head of electronic trading at Knight Capital Group.

Prior to his employment at Knight Capital Group, Nazarali was a management consultant for Ernst & Young. Before that he worked for Bain & Company.[6]

Nazarali was also the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange Electronic Trading Advisory Committee and a member of the SEC's Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee.

Education[edit]

Nazarali received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago.
