John J. Ruth

John Ruth is the president of Century Group Trading, LLC.


Before founding Century Group Trading in 1999, Ruth was executive vice president and president of LIT Clearing Services and First Options of Chicago. He went onto become chairman and CEO. Durint this time, he was also a managing director and partner at Spear, Leeds & Kellogg which owned the companies.

Ruth was also a partner at the Goldberg Group which was acquired by LIT America in 1988. He had been with this group from 1976 to 1988. Ruth was also with Harris Trust & Savings Bank from 1960 to 1976.

He became a member of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1973 and the Chicago Board Options Exchange in 1976. He has served on various industry committees [1] and is a past director of the Futures Industry Association. He is also a Governor of the Board of Trade Clearing Corporation.


Ruth graduated from the University of Illinois in 1959.
